About the event

Join us on this 5 week printmaking course, to delve ink deep into the world of drypoint etching, by studying, experimenting and handprinting your own artwork.

Using drypoint etching we will translate sketches and drawings into an edition of prints, incorporating mark marking, texture and colour.

This course is guided by Printmaker Amy Cartwright who is passionate about all forms of printmaking. Amy is an enthusiastic, supportive and friendly tutor celebrating creativity for wellbeing.

In each session you will learn about printmaking materials, study the work of printmakers, become friends with the Anteros printing press, and leave with a variety of prints to take home.

Week 1 you will warm up with mark making techniques, be introduced to dry point etching tools and experiment with acetate as your first printing plate.

In week 2 you will transfer your mark making techniques onto Tetrapak recycled cartons, a fun and playful material.

In week 3 we will start to introduce colour into your etchings, by experimenting with ink application and colourful techniques.

Week 4 will be all about textures, learning the techniques of Collagraph, applying different textures to your Environmount plate.

For your final week you will have the chance to pull all the techniques together to freestyle your final Intaglio print.

This course is suitable for beginners, and those wishing to revisit printmaking techniques.
