‘On Golden Sands’ – The Story of Beaches in Art

Join art historian Tania Harrington for a captivating journey through exploring sand, shores and sea in paintings and seeking their significance and beauty. Included will be works by William Dyce, William Merritt Chase, Meret Oppenheim, Laura Knight, Sorolla, Dali, Picasso and many others.
In this 2 hour talk (inc 20 min break) We trace the theme from Victorian times when railways enabled easy visits to the coast, to Modernism when the beach was often used as a setting for Surrealist dreams. En route, we look at many light-filled Impressionist works which celebrate leisure and play. An uplifting experience all round!
Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards registered charity Anteros Arts Foundation (No. 1135692).
