Oil painting development

Develop your painting skills in this day-long oil painting workshop.

Practice a range of traditional and contemporary painting techniques inspired by artists throughout history and produce a finished oil painting to take away with you.

The workshop will cover techniques including composition, colour theory and colour mixing for oils, using grounds and painting mediums, brushwork and mark making. This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers, taught by local Artist Sophia Shuvalova.

In the morning session (10:00-12:00) you will practice a small painting and then plan, sketch and ground for your main piece. The afternoon session (13:00-17:00) you will develop your skills through completing your final piece, guided by your tutor.
