About the event
Joy Ellis is a jazz pianist, singer and composer based in London. Joy’s third album - "Peaceful Place", with long-time collaborators Henrik Jensen on double bass and drummer Adam Osmianski - was released to critical acclaim in March 2022 . Due to the hugely positive reception of the album, Joy will be touring with the trio again in Autumn 2023/Spring 2024 to promote the album’s re-release on vinyl.
Moving through the pandemic Joy felt there were no words she could sing to capture the grief and sense of loss that she and other people she knew had experienced. Therefore she composed an album with no vocals, performing on her first love - the piano. Her new material has a relaxed and minimalist vibe, keeping with the album’s title.
Joy has toured all over the UK supported by the Arts Council of England, performing her original music at various venues and festivals including Manchester, Cheltenham, the London Jazz Festivals and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. The release of Peaceful Place is generously supported by the "Help Musicians Do It Differently" Fund.
