About the event

Learn how to use the highly adaptable, beginner-friendly medium of gouache in this 5-week course taught by professional gouache artist, Julia Tooley.

You will start with getting to grips with the paint, how to get the right consistency, mixing colours and trying out simple, fun exercises.

You will then explore the different techniques available, with lots of demonstrations and time to practice.

Once you are feeling confident, you will start to work on a couple of smaller, simple paintings before progressing up to a full landscape and/or still life painting.

Over the course of 5 weeks, you will also have a look at how gouache is used by other artists, both historically and today and will talk about how best to look after our completed paintings.

Suitable for complete beginners – this is a friendly, supportive course with lots of time for questions and practical advice.
