About the event

4 SATURDAYS | 4 OCTOBER-25 OCTOBER | 14:00-16:00

This relaxed four-week course is designed to help you develop your voice as a writer. Each week you’ll explore a different element of craft and technique, discussing extracts by award-winning authors and putting these skills into practice through writing prompts. There’ll be a chance to share your work and you’ll also learn about workshopping and how to give constructive feedback.

You’ll look at narrative voice, exploring the many ways of telling a story and the possibilities of different perspectives, as well as characters’ voices, analysing how they express themselves through dialogue. Classes will also explore the art of withholding information and using subtext, and how the voice in a piece of writing is shaped by style and genre.

Led by editor and experienced creative writing teacher Bethany Wright, this course is a chance to try out different styles and approaches to discover…
