About the event
Sunday 12 April | 2:00–4:00pm A two-hour session with a mid-session break
We are thrilled to welcome back Tania Harrington for another engaging art talk - this time Tania will be exploring Cafés in art.
This intriguing yet accessible subject includes artworks primarily from the Modern period, when café culture became a central feature of modern life. The session examines approximately 40 works by artists including Renoir, Manet, Van Gogh, Hopper, Orpen, and many others.
Cafés are considered both as vibrant social spaces and as places of solitude. The talk also looks closely at the fascinating figures who inhabit these scenes—often characters personally known to the artists themselves. Using this thematic approach, Tania will consider stylistic developments across the period and highlight work by lesser-known artists beyond Europe, such as Yuzo Saeki and William H. Johnson.
Refreshments will be available and proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards registered charity…
