Make two simple art books with paper artist and pattern designer Suzy Dobson - a display book with Japanese binding and a single signature slim sketchbook - in this introductory bookbinding workshop.
The display book with Japanese binding will measure 20 x 14 cm and contain 8 sheets (16 sides) of card, with a choice of Japanese style geometric patterns for the cover. The book will be constructed so that sketches, photos or art can be inserted on each page. The book will be bound with coloured thread, using the Japanese four hole stitch (Yotsume Toji).
The single signature sketchbook will be A5 size and contain 18 sheets (36 sides) of cartridge paper. It will be hand-sewn using a simple stitch and bookbinding thread.
Instruction sheets will be provided so that attendees can go on to make further books after the workshop.
