Watercolour Day Course 10am - 4pm

Understand the process underpinning traditional watercolour painting:- the basic principles of thin, transparent layers of colour applied on a light background. Working from light to dark, dark to light; Explore watercolour layering techniques including wet on wet, glazing, colour overlay ensuring layers are dry before adding next glaze, and application of colour theory in this.
Using landscape painting (including urban) and interior/still life subjects, and referencing traditional watercolourists Katarzyna will explain and demonstrate the principles of aerial perspective (technique of creating sense of depth and distance) Experiment with creating textural marks and using Gum Arabic.
