Saturday 2nd November - 7:30pm doors for an 8pm start
“Oy, oy, oy, life is hard... so, let us play a happy tune!”
This is the basis of Yiddish klezmer – and the reason why this music is so irresistable.
Klezmerized!, a four piece band from Norwich, have fallen in love with the happy and the sad, the somber and the mad and all the other colours this music has to offer. Their repertoire is a lively mix of tunes from eastern Europe, featuring klezmer, Balkan, Gypsy and Middle Eastern sounds. Between the four of them they play a range of instruments such as accordion, guitar, violin, cello, double bass, clarinet, recorder, percussion and harmony singing. Their musical style sounds exotic to many and familiar to some and always appeals to people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. They have played in many venues around Norfolk and Suffolk and enjoy involving their audience actively in their performances.
Just a year short of their 10th anniversary, they have recorded their second album 'Krekhtsn in Crab Nets' and are looking forward to launching it at Anteros Arts Foundation.
