Kinetic Sculpture Day Course 9am-5pm
This course will run twice, please choose from either:
Saturday 18th January or Sunday 19th January
This unique and popular class will see you creating a small mobile using one of Calder’s 3 categories of kinetic art this will become the starting point of your own, larger design. During the day you will produce a finished mobile with moving components based around a central theme.
During the day students will -
Learn briefly about the life and work of Alexander Calder and consider his use of imagery.
Learn to recognise the three categories of movement, and practice manipulating wire, bending and balancing in order to create a successful path of movement.
Develop an appreciation of how movement and negative space affects composition and discuss strategies for overcoming the challenges of photographing kinetic work.
