This workshop will introduce you to the exciting medium of paper collage. This introductory workshop will take you through the process from start to finish of creating a simple paper collage. Learn how to make your own vibrant textural papers using mixed media such as acrylic, ink, pastel, oil pastel and colour pencils. You will create your own simple collage considering shape and composition using the textured papers you have created. This workshop will give you ideas on how to take the medium further and incorporated into other types of art such as painting and drawing.
Recycled paper or magazines
Scissors small and larger sizes
PVA glue or stick glue
Sketch pad or drawing paper
Water-based paints (any type)
Crayons/pastel/Colouring pencils (optional)
It could be a good idea to have a houseplant by you to work from, if unable there will also be images on screen.
Tutor: Rebecca Mills
Rebecca Mills is an experienced art tutor and qualified teacher who has taught a range of creative arts subjects to all ages, such as drawing, painting, photography and digital art. Rebecca has a BA (Hons) Graphic Design/Illustration and has worked as both a Graphic Designer and freelance Illustrator, creating artworks for greeting cards, giftware and magazines. Her work combines both hand drawn and digital methods and incorporates a range of mediums including collage, ink, pen, pencil and paint.
