Another class comprised of two short days (10am to 3pm) designed to give you all the skills you need to plan and execute a highly finished painting. Day one introduces students to the Norwich School of Painters. Students will start by deconstructing these artists’ approach to composition, tone, light and colour before selecting suitable sketches from their own portfolio and making preparatory works from these.
The class will use acrylic paint and offer students the opportunity to practice thin washes, heavier paint and impasto technique. Katarzyna will also teach colour mixing including chromatic greys generated from primary colours plus white. Students will be directed to produce a finished composition demonstrating techniques of simplification and using focal points. Students will learn to scale up smaller works and make deliberate choises about colour palettes and style of paint application.
